EZ LED T8 18watt clear glass lens 4-foot Double End Type-B retrofit tube with protective glass film, 50,000hrs lamp, cool white 5000K light and integrated LED driver for fluorescent T8 / T12 lamp replacement in a ballast bypass retrofit application where power is supplied to both ends of the tube and shunted sockets / tombstones are installed. There is a protective film on the glass lens to help prevent shards of glass from shattering into a million pieces in the unfortunate event of damage to the tube. The film creates a slight frosted appearance.

Designer's Note

Although our retrofit LED T8 tubes fit 99% of the fixtures out there, there is a small percentage of older T12 fixtures that look just like the one in our video but will be hard to retrofit. We recommend that you try the lamp in the sockets before you start the process of the retrofit. Of course you will want to do that with the power turned off to the fixture. The issue is that some of the very old T12 lamp sockets and fixtures do not allow room for the length of the new T8 retrofit tube.

Replace 40 watt T8 or T12 fluorescent lamps with 50,000hr G13 base T8 LED lamp for easy installation in ballast bypass retrofit applications where power is supplied through both ends of the tube and shunted sockets / tombstones are installed.

  • How much brighter are the LED T8 retrofit tubes then my existing fluorescent T8 tubes?

    Putting the issue on how many lumens aside for now, we thought we would do a real world test. Here is what we did. We put up just one fluorescent T8 32watt tube at 3000K in our fixture and at 4' from the fixture we measured 31 foot candles. We did the same test with the 4000K LED-T8 18 watts and got a reading of 61 foot candles and with the 5000K LED-T8 20watts we got a reading of 64 foot candles. Now it is important to remember that the human eye will see the light a little different. The 5000K will give a very cool-white color that may be good for some installations. The 4000K will be a little warmer in color, and although it may not appear to be as bright, it may make the environment more pleasing. The light output on both LED tubes measures almost double to that of fluorescent tubes.
